Morning Star Gold (ASX: MCO) - We are Australia's newest east coast gold producer aiming to increase production over 2012-13. Production from our current tenements is from known high grade ore bodies on our 200km2 slice of the prime Lachlan Fold Belt only 120kms east of Melbourne. We aim to develop multiple proven production sources in the Woods Point - Walhalla Goldfield (Australia's 3rd largest hardrock field in ounces) - where historic gold production was typically only to shallow depth but yielded a massive 6-7Mozs Au (150-200T) at grades ranging 8 - 40g/t. Gold is hosted in & around quartz reefs in fractured mafic & gabbroic dykes.
Mining and production has commenced at our 100% owned Morning Star Goldmine, where underground levels to 310 metres depth have been re-accessed. We have rebuilt all site production & milling infrastructure from scratch in order to host production from the Morning Star and surrounding mines.
In the 1940's, the Morning Star Goldmine was Australia's premier gold mine run by WMC Ltd. Production was 883,000ozs at 26g/t to 1962. The first gold rushes to Woods Point were 150 years ago so its fitting that production should return on the Woods Point sesquicentenary.
